When Nancy Wilson won her second Grammy Award® in 2005 for Outstanding Vocal Jazz Performance, it capped a great career that began when she was 15 in Columbus, Ohio. In 1961 she embarked on a recording career at Capitol Records that would see her second only to The Beatles in album sales on that label, topping even Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and the Beach Boys. Two albums—Broadway My Way and Hollywood My Way—made her a household name.

Nancy Wilson never allowed herself to be classified as a jazz singer. She offered her audience a wide spectrum of songs and styles that included jazz, pop and soul releasing over 50 studio albums throughout her 45-year recording career. In 1991 she released the successful “With My Lover Beside Me” with Barry Manilow who wrote music to the unpublished lyrics of Johnny Mercer for her to record exclusively.

This 1993 performance was recorded at the famed Washington., D.C. nightclub, Blues Alley presenting Nancy at her best, intimate and on stage.
