If the street wise kid next door started pumping out sophisticated rock/pop tunes in his cellar, you'd have The Stand. Cultivating their musical and performance chops in LA and New York clubs in the 1980s and '90s, they possess a mature yet energetic power pop presence having toured with REM, Bangles, The Knack, Concrete Blonde and others.

Their debut 1990 album "Heartbreak Town" has an aggressive guitar and bass sound often reminiscent of the early days of the British Invasion ranging from the Beatles to the Byrds through the more contemporary sound of the Plimsouls, Del Amitri and The Gin Blossoms. The album gets the melody-fest rolling at a clipped pace with rockers such "Everyday" and J146". The original 10 track set now includes 4 bonus tracks of demos and unreleased recordings.
