This Eddie Cantor collection includes rare and lost performances for which he is known and loved. In one of these that employs trick photography, Eddie is every member of a barbershop quartet singing “Wait Till The Sun Shines Nellie,” “Golden Wedding Day” and “I Want A Girl (Just Like The Girl That Married Dear Old Dad).” Of course, performances of his most popular songs (some with alternate lyrics) are here, including “Ma (He’s Makng Eyes At Me),” “Ballin’ The Jack,” For Me And My Gal,” “Waiting For The Robert E. Lee,” and many more.
Not one to hog the spotlight, Eddie shares vocals with Connie Russell, Johnny Johnston and Jean Parker, plus performs a live medley of tunes with legendary guitarist Perry Botkin—he played with Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Bob Hope, Fred Astaire, and the Dorsey Brothers to name a few!
We’re also including a true gem; the last performance by Shemp Howard with The Three Stooges in a side-splittingly hilarious skit. And, of course, this trib-ute is topped off with Eddie Cantor meeting up with his old pal, Sidney Fields (remember Mr. Guffy?) in a garage.
This is a wonderful collection for current and soon-to-be fans of Eddie Cantor.
